It’s an okay game but there’s just a bit of special sauce missing that keeps it from being truly great, in my opinion. I’m reasonably sure that most Western players would know this game from its Game Boy port if they know it at all. The completed shapes will be removed from the screen, but if any of them touch the bottom you’re toast. Different shapes come down the screen, and you have to shoot them to fill in the gaps and make squares and rectangles. This is Konami’s 1989 shooter/puzzle game hybrid Quarth. Well, that’s a localized name that I didn’t know before today. I’ve never played a game quite like Sally Face, and I don’t expect to ever again. There’s a lot to like in Sally Face, and some stuff that might be repulsive to people, but other than a slightly wobbly ending I found the whole thing rather fascinating. Let’s instead say that it’s a journey into the disturbed mind and memories of a strange character, one that feels like it’s pulling you down into its madness the further you go. It’s mainly an adventure game, but it diverges from that kind of gameplay often and significantly enough that I don’t know that I’d want to call it that. Sally Face, the game, is as odd and difficult to categorize as its titular main character. You can even have a second player join in via local multiplayer for more missiles and more fun. There’s a standard arcade mode where you battle your way through the stages, and a three-minute score attack “Caravan" mode. Defeated enemies will drop items that increase the range of your lock-on capability, allowing you to take out more in one go. It’s a vertical shooter where you need to avoid enemy missiles and lock on to the baddies to return fire with your own. This comes from developer Terarin, who makes some really high-quality indie shoot-em-ups. I picked it up back when it first hit the Switch here and have played it quite a bit already as a result. Missile Dancer has been out in Japan for a bit. I really like this game, and if you enjoy a bit of language foolishness I think you will too.
So for example, a guy who wants to impress a girl ultimately needs you to put the girl in front of a high-powered fan, which sends her flying out of the frame. Each stage presents you with a picture, and you need to interact with objects to somehow create a well-known English idiom. This clever little game uses that as a means of delivering a rather fresh puzzle experience. Let me tell you, as someone who teaches English for a living, idioms that you take for granted in your own language can become bizarre nonsense when you look at them from outside the language. Just keep in mind that this is more of a long-term rental than a purchase as we’d normally consider it.

Since the other Hitman games have no Switch versions, there’s no free way to get access to that additional content, but you can buy it. After that, you’ll have to spring for the Access Pass to play the rest of the game.
#HITMAN 3 CLOUD VERSION TRIAL#
The Trial Version only lets you play for a few minutes, really just as a way to test if your connection is good enough. I… can’t imagine that the Nintendo Switch is anyone’s first choice for playing Hitman 3, but if it’s all you’ve got or you have a stable internet connection you can rely on, this will let you play the game in all its glory. I’ll be doing a review of this next week sometime, so keep your eyes peeled. This Encore version adds a new stage and some new unlockables on top of the already solid base. The built-in soundtrack is fantastic, and the gameplay, which sees you moving your character along musical staves, is just plain enjoyable. It’s an incredibly charming rhythm game with a fun story and an excellent mode where you can compose your own pieces. This game was originally released on home computers a few years back to critical acclaim and a whole lot of praise, and it only takes a few minutes of playing with it to see why. Let’s head on in!
